Pediatric / Youth Massage

Session Lengths: 45 min: $75

 +$20 advanced therapist / +$30 expert therapist

We offer massage therapy to the pediatric / youth community for clients between ages 10-17 years of age. Clients must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for treatment consent. We will perform an assessment based on the information both you and your child provide to gain insight on where the child may be feeling tight or sore or when the discomfort occurs i.e. during or after sports. Your child’s clothing will remain on at all times during their treatment and we recommend wearing comfortable accessible clothing like shorts and tank tops.

Using light to medium pressure, the massage therapist will work within the child’s comfort level to make the session enjoyable and engaging.  The treatment will consist of a variety of therapeutic massage techniques including, deep tissue, sports massage, and clinical massage therapy.  We will spend some time working with the child to learn home care strategies on stretching and aftercare. Your child will learn about healthy muscles, how to keep them strong, flexible and how to maximize physical performance and injury prevention.

What are the benefits:

  • Recovery Speed : Improved speed of muscle recovery post injury and improve physical performance.
  • Body Awareness: Children often have their very first experiences in developing body awareness and self care treatment upon trialing pediatric massage at Orthomed. Teaching our children in body awareness, self care, and checking in with how they feel, positively impacts their confidence and reinforces lifelong habits in healthy living and moving.
  • Stress Reduction: Many of the pediatric youth clients we see often report stress, performance anxiety, pressure with academics, competitive sports and social needs. Massage Therapy can help to reduce stress, increase body positivity, and reduce overall nervous system tension to improve the child’s well being.
